In the more than 25 years since the founding of our school, Laurel Springs School has evolved, seeing great innovation, expansion and creativity along the way. Course offerings have blossomed, club life has seen a boom, and Laurel Springs’ talented staff and faculty has grown by leaps and bounds.
As we look ahead to another year filled with great promise, we celebrate a facet of Laurel Springs School that has been key to the school’s mission since its founding by Marilyn Mosley Gordanier more than 25 years ago—connectivity.
This connectivity does not just refer to how our students interact with their professors; it encompasses so much more. The relationships that form across our organization, between peers, with professors, with administrative staff and families, weave to form a rich tapestry that is vital to Laurel Springs School’s continued success.
As we continue to develop student engagement initiatives, such as our newly formed student blogger program, we grow the means by which students can become active participants in their school community. This initiative gives students the opportunity to not only speak their mind but become practiced in the pursuit of being empathetic, responsible, and wise global citizens.
Parents too have greater opportunity to connect than ever before, thanks in part to the formation of regional Facebook pages, which allow parents in similar geographic areas to create dialogue with one another and form a supportive environment for their students and families.
Perhaps most importantly, however, is one facet that has not changed throughout the years; Laurel Springs School’s commitment to upholding Marilyn’s mission, which seeks to assert the truth that each child is an individual with unique talents, gifts, and interests.
Pressing forward toward a bright horizon full of promise, we reaffirm our commitment to continuing to seek out new ways to allow students to explore their passions, all while supporting them as they grow into people of great character and wisdom.
I am honored to have the opportunity to lead the team guiding your greatest treasures, your children, as they walk forward into the world of tomorrow.
