Gifted and Talented

We understand the needs of gifted and talented students.

At Laurel Springs, we understand the opportunities that can accompany educating gifted children.  Too often, traditional schools fail to offer enough flexibility to accommodate the asynchronous development of gifted children, who may need higher level or accelerated courses.  Gifted children frequently waste precious learning time in classes that move too slowly for them, or cover material that they have already mastered.  Laurel Springs answers these challenges with a college prep, private school experience that is tailored to the individual needs of each child.  Our Gifted & Talented Academy (for students in grades 6-12) provides specialized coursework and opportunities that are designed specifically for the needs of gifted children.

Our Gifted & Talented Academy offers experiences that develop the intellect, encourage achievement, and nurture academic and personal goals. Our students participate in a more elaborate, in-depth study of major topics, and engage in problem solving that integrates knowledge across systems of thought. In addition, our teachers encourage students to demonstrate leadership qualities, high-level practical skills, and a capacity for creative thinking.

The Laurel Springs Gifted & Talented Academy offers families all the opportunities of an elite private school including certified teachers, excellent curriculum, school counseling, mentoring, and college placement services.  Curriculum options include Honors and AP courses, as well as opportunities to conduct in-depth research projects on topics of the student’s choosing.

Our gifted students stretch their capabilities of complex analysis, evaluation, in-depth exploration and creative thinking. Our teachers specialize in the art of differentiated instruction for various types of gifted learners. One-on-one communication is the basis for an educational dialogue that encourages students to move beyond what they could achieve in a traditional setting.
