Today’s competitive academic world makes it hard for students to know the best approach when applying to colleges. In this environment, college planning moves to the forefront as a service that both students and parents need to feel ready for the application process. Admission rates continue to drop at most colleges, and in some colleges now admit well under 10% of applicants. Your children can benefit from advice that helps them stand out from other students applying to college.
Our School Counseling Department provides personalized college planning advice for our full-time students as they progress through high school. In addition, this year our school introduced a series of communications to full-time students in grades 8 – 12. These students receive a College Planning email each month with advice tailored specifically for their grade level and the time in the calendar year. Our College Planning emails include exclusive PDF guides that students can read online, or print for offline review. Examples of previous guide topics include: college waitlists, financial aid, standardized tests, and campus visits. In April, students will receive guides about how to make the most of the summer months with a focus on college preparation.
Talk with your children about these resources, which contain timely guidance and provide opportunities for family discussion. Please reach out to your school counselor if you have any questions about the college application process, academic planning, or other related issues. We are proud to help our students achieve their goals for college and career.
