We are pleased to offer our first ever student blogging initiative which is designed to engage students from around the globe in sharing their stories and expressing themselves as active members of our community. Blogging is an activity that requires students to think about a larger audience and reflect on what their peers would like to know about their experiences. Students are encouraged to share their stories, passions, goals, and future career paths. We will be sharing posts from our student bloggers throughout the school year and encourage you to visit Laurel Springs School on social media for links to our students’ latest contributions.
2017-2018 School Year Student Bloggers are:
Hi, everyone! My name is Kate Florence Martin and I am the student editor for this blogging program. I am a lover of writing and language. I am a competitive tennis player training to achieve my dream of receiving a scholarship to a Division I college. I have a passion for nature, hiking, whitewater kayaking, and dream of spending my days surfing, and rock climbing. I am a vegan and love to cook and experiment with recipes as well. Academically, I am very interested in History and English, as well as Science and Health. I am working towards my goal of becoming an sports medicine orthopedic surgeon. I am also fluent in Spanish and spend a lot of time in Madrid, Spain, my one true love. I hope that you all enjoy reading my posts, which will be all about my passions and views on life and society!
Hello, my name is Connor Couture. I’m 17 and am a senior in high school. I live in the state of California, and, more specifically, in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have had a passion for music ever since I was little; I have played the piano for 8 years now, and the violin for 9 years. I have always been a huge fan of tech and science, specifically computer science. I plan on majoring in computer science and engineering in college. I play both basketball and golf. As for writing, this has been my second year in the Laurel Springs student blogging program, and I also write poetry on occasion. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends, visiting new places, reading, and doing some photography.
Hi, my name is Colby, nickname “Cheez,” and I am a 15-year-old blogger from Naalehu, Hawaii (nah ah lay who). I spend much of my time messing around with my sisters, doing schoolwork, and reading books or playing games. My proudest accomplishments include flying an airplane, nearly achieving Eagle Scout, having read over 3,000 pages (or six 500 paged books) in a single week, and having traveled to over a dozen countries. I love to share stories about my life and my daily activities in my blogs.
Hello, my name is Ibadat and I have been a student at Laurel Springs School for five years. I am currently a sophomore. I play full-time tennis and in my free time, I enjoy reading (anything from books to the back of juice boxes), writing (especially poetry), binging on Gilmore Girl reruns, and eating pizza as often as I possibly can. My favorite book at the moment is Catcher in the Rye and I am currently trying to find my way through Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. My favorite subject is Literature (for obvious reasons) and I want to major in Creative Writing in college.
I am a young writer and I am currently a Laurel Springs sophomore. While this is only my second year at Laurel Springs I try to get into as many clubs as possible, so that I can be involved with the school. Even though this takes a ton of time, I am working hard to maintain straight A’s. I have the opportunity to travel a lot and Laurel Springs has helped me balance everything.
I am a sophomore with Laurel Springs and I live in California. I am in my second year in Laurel Springs. My many interests include writing and music. I enjoy writing in many genres, both fiction, and nonfiction. I’ve been published in a few literary journals and I plan to attend UCLA after high school.
I am a freshman at Laurel Springs this year and I live on a farm near Orlando, Florida. I love traveling and spend part of the year in Belize, a developing country near Guatemala. I started writing in my free time two years ago when I started a comedy blog from my cat’s point of view. I didn’t start free time writing until recently when I realized how much fun I had writing a short story for school. Most of my blog posts will be written about my travels or my pets.
