Skylar Morton12th Grade
Skylar Morton is one to watch in the world of women’s tennis. She ranks among the country’s top tennis players, with a recruiting status of #3 in the nation and #1 in her home state of Maryland. Her future coach at UCLA, Stella Sampras Webster, said that she was “thrilled” that Skylar would be joining the UCLA tennis team this fall. “She is a tremendous athlete and a well-rounded player who should help us immediately. I’m extremely excited for the future of UCLA tennis.”
Skylar combines her strength on the tennis court with an incredible academic record. As a 2011 graduate of Laurel Springs, she pushed herself to surpass typical academic expectations, and graduated high school a year ahead of schedule with a stellar grade point average. Skylar said, “Laurel Springs gave me the opportunity to continue pursuing rigorous advanced academic classes at a pace that worked well for me. This opportunity enabled me to learn many things beyond the standard high school courses, while maintaining a 4.24 GPA. I scored so well on my 10th grade SATs that I did not have to retake them in 11th grade. All this allowed me to gain acceptance into one of the top 20 universities in the world–one year early.”
We are proud of Skylar’s record as a student athlete, and know that she will use her successful college prep experience at Laurel Springs for continued success at UCLA.
