Why should I take a course in Strategic Learning and Growth?
Students preparing for higher-level education can benefit from adopting a growth mindset, developed through the course’s instruction on the science behind learning and the cognitive processes associated with executive functioning. Students enrolled in Strategic Learning and Growth work to create and implement strategies for success while navigating their final years of high school and beyond. In addition, the course is an excellent addition to a transcript, showing growth and interest beyond traditional courses.
Who is the course for?
The Strategic Learning and Growth course is offered to students enrolled in grades 10-12, ages 15 years and older. Eligible students have completed at least one Advanced Placement (AP) course, earning a final grade of 82.5% (B) or higher, or have completed Honors-level English or Social Studies courses within the preceding academic year, earning a final grade of 86.5% (B+) or higher.
What does the course entail?
The Strategic Learning and Growth class is held on Minerva’s Active Learning Platform and exposes participants to the science behind learning and the cognitive processes associated with executive functioning. Through a blend of theoretical and practical activities, students develop tools to reflect, plan, and perform in ways that will allow them to master new skills and achieve goals more effectively. Enrolled students are required to attend a live synchronous class for 90 minutes, twice per week, over 10 weeks.
When is the course being held?
The course is offered during two 10-week sessions for the 2020 Summer term:
