Each October, communities nationwide unite for National Bullying Prevention Month. PACER’s (Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights) National Bullying Prevention Center developed this initiative in response to the need to raise awareness about bullying. This year, PACER’s message is: “The end of bullying begins with me.” At Laurel Springs, we are once again encouraging all members of our global community to join our efforts!
Next week, Laurel Springs Counseling Department will be hosting a webinar titled, “Uniting Against Bullying – Celebrating National Unity Day.” During this webinar for grades 7-12, students will learn about the types of bullying, what it means to be a bystander vs. an upstander, and how they can join our bullying prevention initiatives this year! At the end of the presentation, there will be an activity for students to participate in. Laurel Springs’ students can attend this webinar by checking out the iClass calendar for Tuesday, October 20th.
One of the ways members of the Laurel Springs community can unite against bullying is by participating in Unity Day, Wednesday, October 21st:
“What are your true colors when it comes to bullying? If you care about safe and supportive schools and communities make your color ORANGE on Unity Day. That’s the day everyone can come together—in schools, communities, and online — and send one large ORANGE message of support, hope, and unity to show that we are united against bullying and united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion.” – Pacer.org
