Before you start to celebrate American Independence Day, work towards a little financial freedom of your own by applying for one of the scholarships described below. From equestrians and teachers to creatives and lawyers, many diverse groups are represented and ready to receive your application this month.

Welsh Pony & Cob Scholarships

Award:  1–2 awards; $500
Deadline: July 1, 2020
Description: The Welsh Pony & Cob Foundation was established for charitable research and educational purposes to promote the use of Welsh ponies and cobs. To further their mission, the foundation is excited to offer a scholarship to students who show excellence in academics and extracurricular activities. Students are asked to complete an online application and attach recommended documents along with a statement outlining academic goals and experience or interest in equestrian activities.

Creative Safety Supply Scholarship

Award: $1,000
Deadline: July 15, 2020
Description: Sometimes you have to get a little creative to save money for college. Creative Safety Supply provides businesses with solutions to improve efficiency, and they would like to provide students with a solution to help improve their education. Eligible students are asked to answer the following questions as part of their application:
What career path have you chosen? What made you choose this path? (300-500 words)
How have you used creative thinking/problem solving to help you accomplish your academic or personal goals? (500-750 words)

Journalism Education Association Future Teacher Scholarships

Award: Five $1,000 awards
Deadline: July 15, 2020
Description: The Journalism Education Association sponsors scholarships for education majors who intend to teach high school journalism. College juniors, seniors, or Master’s degree students can apply by completing an online application and crafting an 250-word essay explaining your desire to teach this subject as this level.

Strom & Associates Annual Academic Scholarship

Award: $1,000
Deadline: July 15, 2020
Description: To help students with the rising costs of higher education, Strom & Associates is offering a scholarship to those who will be enrolled full-time in an accredited community college or university in fall 2020. Students can apply by submitting an essay (1,500 words) that discusses the following topic:
If you had to submit a family member to a nursing home, what accommodations would you be looking for? Create a check-list of “must-haves” for the nursing home. It should include safety measures and aspects to avoid.

Steinger, Greene & Feiner Hispanic Heritage Law Student Scholarship

Award: $1,000
Deadline: July 31, 2020
Description: Steinger, Greene & Feiner sponsor the Hispanic Heritage Law Student Scholarship in order to help strengthen diversity in the field of law. To apply, students must complete an online application, craft an essay from one of the proposed topics, and plan to attend law school or currently be enrolled.
