Laurel Springs School is proud to announce an exciting new partnership that hits all the right notes. We’ve teamed up with Coast Music Conservatory—a renowned, accredited music school located in Manhattan Beach, California—to create a full-time private school program for students in grades 6–12. The Daily Breeze recently covered this incredible initiative—read the full article here.
Founded in 2004 by vocalist Beth Rohde and her husband, Matt Rohde (former American Idol Associate Music Director), Coast Music Conservatory has been shaping aspiring musicians for over two decades. Their specialized one-on-one music instruction and group ensemble programs are now paired with Laurel Springs’ award-winning, accredited online academic curriculum to create a holistic, flexible educational experience.
Why This Partnership Works
At its core, this partnership was built to serve a growing need: support students who are serious about their musical education without compromising academic excellence. With our online, self-paced curriculum available 24/7, Laurel Springs students at Coast Music Conservatory now have the freedom to design their day around both their schoolwork and their artistic pursuits.
Students work from Coast Music’s onsite facility in Manhattan Beach, logging into their Laurel Springs courses with an onsite teacher present for supervision and guidance. Throughout the day, students transition between academic learning and in-person music instruction—including music theory classes, private lessons, and ensemble practice—creating an immersive, well-rounded school day that honors both intellect and artistry.
An Education Model in Harmony
This isn’t just another hybrid program. It’s a purpose-built collaboration. Laurel Springs’ Director of Partnerships, Manny Iloba, Ed.D., explains:
“The partnership between Laurel Springs and Coast Music has been incredible so far. We’re creating a lifestyle of learning that allows students to be the best version of themselves—where their passion for music is not only supported but amplified through academic flexibility.”
This innovative model doesn’t just work on paper—it’s already transforming the educational experience for families. Through ongoing site visits, personalized meetings with prospective students, and a series of in-person informational sessions, Laurel Springs has been actively engaged with the Coast Music community all year long.
The Future Sounds Bright
With shared values, a common mission, and a mutual commitment to student success, the partnership between Laurel Springs and Coast Music is already hitting its stride—and the harmony is only getting stronger. From aspiring vocalists to seasoned instrumentalists, this program is redefining what it means to pursue music and education with equal passion.
