FAQs

Students can join the graduation ceremony – either in person or virtually – if they plan to finish their remaining Laurel Springs courses by December 31, 2025.

All 2025 graduating students are encouraged to participate virtually if unable to attend on-site. Registration is required for both in-person and virtual participants, where students will indicate their participation preference.

Technically yes – 9-12 grade students can attend the events without a parent/guardian as long as a parent/guardian has completed the digital permission slip, which is required for attending students (this includes our seniors who are 18+). K-8 students need to have a parent with them for events like our Field trip and Meetup. Exceptions for 8th graders are the student social and prom. Families can email events@laurelsprings.com for more information if needed. In terms of students travelling without a parent, please be aware that guests must be at least 18 years old to check-in to a hotel room.

As a follow-up to registration, students will be asked to submit a photo and a brief summary of their future plans by May 1, 2025. Names will only be announced during the ceremony for those who register. Virtual participants won’t appear on camera but will view the event live and be honored in the same way as those attending on-site.

Please save the dates for graduation rehearsal and the ceremony. If circumstances change, in-person attendees should notify Laurel Springs to switch to virtual participation.

The ceremony is expected to last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the number of participants.

Students can request up to 8 guests when registering for the in-person ceremony. For additional guests, they must join a waitlist, and tickets will be allocated based on availability.

For Graduation, you will be able to list if you need ADA compliant seating for graduation on the registration form. If you will need Accessible hotel accommodations, you can review Kona Kai’s information here and it is recommended to call them to book their accessible rooms.

Yes! A livestream link will be shared with all participants the week of the event, allowing family and friends to join the celebration.

Yes, a recording of the graduation ceremony and commencement speech will be provided to all registrants for on-demand viewing.

All students will receive their diploma and final transcript upon completing graduation requirements and submitting a request via the Student Portal.  In-person graduates will receive their diploma case with a certificate of attendance at the ceremony, while virtual participants will have theirs mailed.

In-person, U.S.-based students must order a cap and gown from Jostens by April 4, 2025 so it arrives in time for graduation. If students are only ordering a cap and gown, they will need to email our Jostens rep, Ruben Cruz, directly at ruben.cruz@jostens.com to have it shipped to their home; otherwise, gown-only orders will be automatically shipped to Laurel Springs instead of a students’ home address. International students participating on-site can also order through Jostens and will receive their gowns and any other items ordered at check-in on June 10.

Virtual participants have the option to order a cap and gown from Jostens or Amazon.

International students who are participating virtually are welcome to order a cap and gown from Amazon so that it arrives directly to their address.

Yes, all graduates will receive a navy and white Class of 2025 tassel either with their cap and gown order, or with their diploma and diploma case.

The Laurel Springs cap and gown are navy.

Ivy Green, Indigo Navy, Gray/Silver, and Gold

All graduates who participated in NHS during their last year of school with Laurel Springs and who registered to participate in the graduation ceremony will receive an NHS medal. Students participating in person will collect them onsite and those participating virtually will have them shipped to them in the beginning of May. Early graduates not participating in graduation will receive their NHS medal in the weeks following the graduation ceremony.

Yes, students who meet the requirements for any Honor Society will receive honor cords. Please check with your advisor for details.

If a student is unable to attend the Senior Recognition Dinner, they will be able to collect any regalia at the Graduation Check-in on Thursday, June 12.

Our student athletes are pre-identified in our student information system and will be presented with varsity letters (iron-on) in recognition of their achievements in athletics. If a student would like to confirm their student-athlete status with Laurel Springs, please email events@laurelsprings.com

Yes! Students can design their own class ring through vendors like Jostens.

Students can browse and order apparel from our school store! Academy students can find Academy apparel here.

Yes, a professional photographer will capture key moments during each in-person YEC event.

No, Laurel Springs will not be hosting a virtual prom in 2025. All the more reason to come join us in person in San Diego if you are able to travel!

Yes, students may bring a guest (grades 8-12 or graduated; max age 20). A permission slip and ID are required.

Students will receive an invitation to join LSS Alumni Connect, our official digital networking platform for Laurel Springs’ graduates, as part of their Seminar course.

We strive to accommodate various food allergies, but we cannot guarantee 100% safety with pre-prepared food. Students with severe allergies are encouraged to eat before or after events. Sample menus will be shared with registered students.

Yes, transportation will be available for seniors attending Grad Night, Graduation Rehearsal, and the in-person Commencement. K-11 families will be provided transportation for the YEC Field Trip.

We recommend using the provided LSS transportation (bus) – it ensures that our seniors arrive at the same time in order to gain early access to the theater, and that the group stays together without getting lost.

Grad night is for seniors only – guests and parents are unable to attend this event.

Last year we had about 130 seniors (⅓ of the class) and 60-80 K-11 students in attendance.

Students are able to add up to 2 guests for the Senior Brunch and Dinner.
