Laurel Springs’ online summer school courses are perfect for K-12 students who want to learn on their own terms. All of our online summer courses are self-paced and accessible from anywhere in the world.
Laurel Springs summer courses offer flexible scheduling, allowing students to begin their coursework on a weekly basis every Wednesday from April 30 to September 10. Designed for accelerated learning, these courses cover the same material as a traditional school-year course but in a condensed format, with one-semester courses lasting six weeks and full-year courses spanning twelve weeks. Students benefit from the asynchronous nature of the program, meaning they can work at their own pace without required live sessions. However, for those looking for a more interactive experience, select workshops, bootcamps, and camps include live instruction to enhance engagement and learning.

An average workload expectation might look like this for summer courses. However, the actual time a student spends will vary significantly by student, especially if they pace faster than 6/12 weeks:
– Lower School courses: about 1.5 hours per day, per subject
– Middle School courses: about 2.25 hours per day, per subject
– College Prep level courses: about 3 hours per day, per class
– Honors level courses: about 4.5 hours per day, per class
– AP level courses: about 5 hours per day, per class
Due to the accelerated nature of summer courses, students may enroll in no more than two credits through summer school (two full-year courses or four semester courses).
Our elementary school camps are synchronous, meaning that students log onto our platform and connect with their teacher and peers in a live session. Parents may need to help guide coursework for middle school students taking summer courses. High school students taking summer courses should be able to set their schedules and work through their lessons with minimal supervision.
Summer school students need a standard laptop or desktop computer with Windows or Mac OS support, plus an up-to-date browser and access to high-speed internet. Some courses require speakers and a microphone, and some require a printer and scanner.
