Parents (or other family members) serve as learning coaches for their young students by designing daily or weekly learning schedules, supporting students with reading instructions and submitting work, and helping their students collaborate with teachers to provide a positive learning environment. Elementary School parents can expect to partner with teachers to provide academic, social, and emotional support to their children; help guide their children through the online courses; and assist with assignments and learning.

How much time per day should I expect my child to work on schoolwork?

On average, elementary students spend about 30 minutes per day per subject on schoolwork. However, each child is unique and may need to spend more or less time on a given topic or assignment depending on their interest and skills. Students in 4th and 5th grades should expect to spend a little more time on schoolwork than students in younger grades.
