Fifth grade students will learn more about reading, writing, grammar, and research through structured lessons. They will study parts of speech like verbs, adverbs, adjectives, pronouns, and prepositional phrases, as well as spending time focusing on plot, setting, themes, and points of view.

They will also learn how to read and gather information from scientific articles and historical accounts, in addition to comparing different types of drama and various forms of poetry. Students will begin the research process of planning and gathering information, eventually analyzing the information and presenting their findings in a multimedia format.

Prerequisites: This course is designed for Laurel Springs students in grade 5.
