Middle School Creative Writing
In this course, students will develop their skills as storytellers, poets, and creative thinkers, as well as explore multiple forms of creative writing. Along the way, they’ll discover how to develop compelling characters, build vivid settings, craft effective dialogue, and use literary devices like imagery, metaphor, and voice.
The course emphasizes the writing process—from brainstorming and drafting to revising and polishing—helping students understand that good writing develops through practice and revision. Throughout the semester, students will compile a creative writing portfolio showcasing their best work across different genres.
By the end of the course, students will have completed this portfolio of polished creative pieces and gained confidence in expressing their unique perspectives and ideas through writing. Whether they dream of becoming published authors or simply want to communicate more effectively, students will leave with practical skills and a deeper appreciation for the power of creative expression.
