Will IMPACT help my child catch up if they are behind in reading or math?

IMPACT is built for that kind of targeted support. A Learning Support Specialist works with the student weekly on the specific skill area identified in their Learning Support Plan, whether that is phonics, reading comprehension, or early math facts, and tracks progress against SMART Goals set together with the family.

My child has never learned independently before. How does IMPACT help with that?

Most elementary students are new to any kind of self-paced learning, so IMPACT does not assume independence; it helps build it gradually. Support is paired with guidance for the parent or guardian at home, since families remain closely involved in a child’s daily schedule at this age.

Does Laurel Springs support neurodivergent students?

Absolutely. Every student is unique, and many neurodivergent students thrive at Laurel Springs because their family can shape how, when, and where they learn from the earliest grades. Our neurodivergent elementary students also have access to virtual social activities and clubs suited to their interests.

Does Laurel Springs follow 504 or IEP plans?

As a private online high school, Laurel Springs School does not engage in the 504 or IEP process typically followed in public school systems. A student with a current IEP or 504 Plan will be evaluated by our Student Support Manager to determine the appropriate accommodations and supports required for success in the Laurel Springs environment, which may include an invitation to join the IMPACT program.

Can my student work with an external consultant?

Yes. Our Student Support Manager and counselors partner with families and any needed consultants to support student success.

What is the IMPACT program at Laurel Springs Online Elementary School?

The earliest years of school are where a child develops the reading, writing, and math skills that everything else is built on, along with the confidence to try again. Our full-time online elementary program pairs an asynchronous curriculum with dedicated teacher support. For students working through a specific skill gap, or getting used to a more independent routine for the first time, an additional layer of individualized support can help. That is where the IMPACT program comes in.

IMPACT is designed for online elementary school students, in grades K through 5, who benefit from extra individualized academic or organizational support beyond what our full-time program already provides. Because young learners are still developing the habits and routines that later grades build on, IMPACT focuses on reinforcing specific skills and helping families develop structures and systems that best suit their student’s needs.

What level of support do students receive in the IMPACT program?

Full-time tuition at Laurel Springs online elementary school already includes evaluation and assessment of academic needs, accommodation plans where required, and individualized support from teachers and counselors.

IMPACT adds three increasing tiers of weekly 1:1 support from a dedicated Learning Support Specialist. For a younger student, this often looks like focused practice on a specific reading or math skill during the weekly session, paired with gentle guidance for parents on building a homework routine that fits into the flexible Laurel Springs schedule.

Who is eligible for the IMPACT program?

IMPACT is open to online elementary school students in grades K through 5 who are enrolled full-time at Laurel Springs and identified by our Student Support team as likely to benefit from support beyond what the core program provides.

IMPACT Program Fees

IMPACT carries an additional fee beyond full-time tuition, reflecting the additional weekly time from a Learning Support Specialist. Fees are nonrefundable and can be prorated for students who join mid-enrollment.
